System Optimization

Kudu includes a suite of optimization tools to help your system run faster and leaner.

Registry Cleaner

Scans the Windows registry for issues and safely fixes them.

Types of issues detected:

Invalid	Entries with malformed or corrupt data
Orphaned	Keys with no parent or associated software
Broken links	File paths pointing to locations that no longer exist
Vulnerability	Settings that may weaken system security
Privacy	Settings that could leak personal information
Performance	Entries that may slow down your system
Network	Network configuration problems
Service	Service-related registry issues
Task	Task Scheduler registry issues

Each issue is assigned a risk level — Low, Medium, or High — so you can make informed decisions about what to fix.

Safety features:

• Original values are saved before any changes, so fixes can be rolled back
• Critical system keys are never modified
• You can review every issue before applying fixes

Startup Manager

Controls which applications launch when you log in.

Where it looks:

What you can do:

• View all startup items and where they come from
• Enable or disable individual items
• Remove startup entries entirely
• See boot time impact — Kudu analyzes boot trace data to show you how much each item slows down your startup (Windows)

Debloater

Identifies and removes pre-installed software you don't need.

Categories of bloatware detected:

Kudu uses safe removal methods to prevent system instability. On Windows, it removes apps through the Windows Package Manager (winget) or PowerShell. On Linux, it uses the appropriate package manager.

Service Manager

Manages system services with built-in safety intelligence.

Every service is classified using a knowledge base of 100+ services:

Safety level	Meaning
Safe	Can be disabled without risk
Caution	May affect certain features — review before disabling
Unsafe	Critical system service — Kudu won't let you disable it

Service categories include: Telemetry, Xbox, Print, Fax, Media, Network, Bluetooth, Remote Desktop, Hyper-V, Developer Tools, and more.

What you can do:

• Browse all services with their current status (Running or Stopped)
• Change start type: Automatic, Manual, or Disabled
• View dependency chains — see what each service depends on, and what depends on it
• Bulk optimize — disable all services marked "Safe" in a category with one click
• Kudu prevents you from disabling services that other critical services depend on

Uninstall Leftovers

Detects orphaned files and registry entries left behind after you uninstall a program.

• Scans common installation directories for folders belonging to programs that are no longer installed
• Identifies orphaned registry entries (Windows)
• Shows how much disk space you can recover

Network Cleanup

Cleans network-related caches and saved data.

ARP cache	Clears the Address Resolution Protocol cache
Network history	Removes network connection history

Disk Analyzer

Visualizes how your disk space is being used with interactive treemap charts.

• See which folders and files are using the most space
• Drill into subdirectories for deeper analysis
• View file type distribution across each drive
• Analyze individual partitions separately

The treemap makes it easy to spot large files or folders you may have forgotten about.
