Fix Microsoft Store Error 0x80131500 on Windows 11

What Causes This?

Microsoft Store error 0x80131500 usually appears when the Store cannot connect properly to Microsoft’s services or when its local cache is corrupted. In Windows 11, this can also be triggered by incorrect date and time settings, network issues, damaged Store app files, or temporary files interfering with app data. In some cases, a Windows update problem or a disabled background service can also cause the Store to fail.

How to Fix It Manually

1. Check your date, time, and region settings

   1. Press Windows + I to open Settings.
   2. Go to Time & language > Date & time.
   3. Turn on Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically.
   4. Then go to Time & language > Language & region and make sure your Country or region is correct.
   5. Restart your PC and try opening Microsoft Store again.

2. Run the Windows Store Apps troubleshooter

   1. Open Settings with Windows + I.
   2. Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
   3. Find Windows Store Apps and click Run.
   4. Let Windows apply any suggested fixes, then test the Store again.

3. Clear the Microsoft Store cache

   1. Press Windows + R to open Run.
   2. Type wsreset.exe and press Enter.
   3. A blank Command Prompt window will appear for a moment, then Microsoft Store should reopen automatically.
   4. If the Store opens normally, try downloading an app.

4. Repair or reset the Microsoft Store app

   1. Open Settings and go to Apps > Installed apps.
   2. Find Microsoft Store, click the three dots, then select Advanced options.
   3. First click Repair.
   4. If that does not help, return to the same screen and click Reset.
   5. Open Microsoft Store and sign in again if needed.

5. Check Windows Update

   1. Open Settings > Windows Update.
   2. Click Check for updates.
   3. Install any pending updates, especially cumulative updates and Microsoft Store-related updates.
   4. Restart your PC after installation finishes.

6. Re-register Microsoft Store with PowerShell

   1. Press Windows, type PowerShell.

   2. Right-click Windows PowerShell and choose Run as administrator.

   3. Paste this command and press Enter:

      Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppxManifest.xml"}

   4. Wait for the command to finish, then restart your PC.

   5. Open Microsoft Store and check if the error is gone.

7. Disable VPN or proxy temporarily

   1. If you use a VPN, disconnect it fully.
   2. To check proxy settings, open Settings > Network & internet > Proxy.
   3. Turn off Use a proxy server if it is enabled and you do not need it.
   4. Try Microsoft Store again.
