Epic Games Launcher Web Cache
Epic Games Launcher renders much of its storefront, library, login, and news interface through an embedded Chromium web layer that writes browser-style cache data to disk. That cache includes HTTP objects, cookies, local storage, GPU shader and raster caches, and Chromium code cache files used to speed up repeated page loads and UI rendering. Kudu removes the older Epic Games Launcher web cache so stale launcher web assets can be rebuilt on demand without touching installed games, Epic account data, saved passwords managed outside the cache, or launcher settings.
Why clean Epic Games Launcher Web Cache?
- Stale Chromium HTTP cache entries can leave the Store or Library showing outdated banners, missing thumbnails, or pages that never finish loading even though your internet connection is fine
- Corrupted cached JavaScript, CSS, or code cache files can make the launcher open to a blank window, display broken layout elements, or keep spinning while the interface fails to render
- GPU cache and shader data from an older graphics driver can become invalid after a driver update, causing black panels, flickering tabs, or sluggish scrolling until Chromium rebuilds them
- Bad cached authentication and session web data can trap the launcher in repeated sign-in prompts, redirect loops, or a stuck 'Please wait' screen without affecting the actual Epic account
- Oversized disk cache folders can waste several hundred megabytes and make the launcher feel inconsistent because Chromium keeps revalidating stale assets before downloading fresh ones
- Damaged cached image and media objects can cause missing game art, empty promotional tiles, and broken embedded videos in the launcher home page or store sections
