What Is Lenovo Legion Space?

Lenovo Legion Space is Lenovo software for Legion gaming devices. It acts as a launcher and control app for game library features and some device-specific gaming functions, depending on your Lenovo model.

It is not part of Windows itself. If you have a Legion laptop, desktop, or handheld, Lenovo may install it to provide a single place for gaming-related settings and shortcuts.

The main process name is often legionspace.exe. Because Lenovo uses this name for its own app, you should confirm the file belongs to Lenovo if you are unsure.

Is It Safe?

Usually, yes. A legitimate legionspace.exe published by Lenovo is generally safe.

To check it:

  • In Task Manager, right-click Lenovo Legion Space or legionspace.exe and choose Open file location.
  • Check Properties > Digital Signatures and look for Lenovo as the signer.
  • Be more cautious if the file is in an unusual folder or has no valid Lenovo signature.

This is not a core Windows process. If it is missing, Windows should still boot and run normally. That said, some Legion-specific features may be less convenient to access until you open the app manually.

Should I Disable It at Startup?

For most people, yes if you want fewer background apps. Lenovo Legion Space is usually optional at startup.

You may want to keep it enabled if you:

  • regularly use Lenovo's gaming hub features
  • rely on device-specific Legion controls exposed through the app
  • want it ready immediately after sign-in

You can usually disable it at startup without uninstalling it. The app should still open when you launch it yourself later.

If you are troubleshooting slow sign-in, high memory use, or too many tray apps, this is a reasonable startup item to test disabling.

Why Is It Using High CPU or Memory?

Short spikes can happen when the app starts, checks installed games, refreshes its library, or loads device integrations.

Higher ongoing usage can happen if:

  • the app is stuck scanning or syncing
  • another Lenovo component it depends on is misbehaving
  • the installation needs an update or reinstall
  • a bug causes the interface to stay active in the background

If usage stays high for several minutes, close and reopen the app. If that does not help, restart Windows and check whether the problem returns only when Legion Space launches. If the file location or signature looks wrong, investigate it rather than assuming it is safe.

How to Disable or Remove It

To stop it launching with Windows:

  • Open Task Manager > Startup apps and disable Lenovo Legion Space if listed.
  • You can also check Settings > Apps > Startup on supported Windows versions.

To remove it completely:

  • Open Settings > Apps.
  • Find Lenovo Legion Space.
  • Choose Uninstall.

If you still want the app but not the background startup entry, disable startup first and test for a few days before uninstalling.

Where Kudu Helps

Kudu can show whether Lenovo Legion Space is set to start with Windows and lets you disable or remove the startup entry without digging through multiple menus. In Performance Monitor, you can also see whether legionspace.exe is actually using significant CPU or memory before deciding what to do.

If the app keeps returning or behaves oddly, Kudu helps you trace it back to its startup source so you can tell whether it comes from a normal startup entry or another launcher.
