What Is Intel Graphics Command Center?

Intel Graphics Command Center is Intel’s control panel app for integrated graphics on Windows. It lets you view display information and change graphics-related settings such as resolution, color, video options, and game or app profiles on supported Intel GPUs.

The app is not the graphics driver itself. Your Intel display driver can still run without the Command Center app being open. In most cases, this program exists to give you a user interface for settings, not to provide a core Windows function.

Is It Safe?

Yes, if it is the real Intel app published by Intel Corporation. The executable name you gave, igcc.exe, matches Intel Graphics Command Center.

If you want to verify it, check the file location and digital signature:

  • In Task Manager, right-click the process and choose Open file location.
  • Open the file’s Properties and check Digital Signatures.
  • The signer should be Intel.

A legitimate copy is typically installed under Program Files or a Windows app package location, not a random temp or downloads folder. If you see the same name running from an unusual location, treat that as suspicious and scan it.

Should I Disable It at Startup?

Usually, yes if you do not actively use it. This is an optional startup item.

Disabling it at startup normally does not break your Intel graphics driver, your display output, or basic screen settings. It usually only stops the control app from preloading in the background or opening automatically.

Keep it enabled if you regularly use Intel’s graphics controls, custom color settings, or app-specific graphics options and want quick access after sign-in. Otherwise, disabling startup is a reasonable way to reduce background clutter.

Why Is It Using High CPU or Memory?

This app should usually be light. If it is using noticeable CPU or memory for long periods, common reasons include:

  • a stuck background component or app bug
  • display configuration changes, monitor detection, or graphics settings syncing
  • a driver issue after a Windows update or Intel graphics update
  • corruption in the app package

First, close and reopen the app. If that does not help, restart Windows. If usage stays high, update or reinstall the Intel graphics driver and the Command Center app. If Kudu shows another Intel graphics process using the resources instead, check that process separately before ending anything.

How to Disable or Remove It

To stop it from launching with Windows, disable its startup entry in Task Manager > Startup apps or in Kudu’s Startup Manager.

If you want to remove it completely, uninstall Intel Graphics Command Center from Settings > Apps. That removes the control app, not necessarily the Intel graphics driver. Do not remove the graphics driver unless you specifically mean to replace or troubleshoot it.

If you disable startup and later need the app, you can still open it manually from Start.

Where Kudu Helps

Kudu can show whether Intel Graphics Command Center has a startup entry and let you disable it without deleting the app. In Performance Monitor, you can check whether igcc.exe is actually using CPU or memory before deciding to act.

If the app looks suspicious because of its file location or behavior, Kudu’s Malware Scanner can help check for persistence and suspicious files. If you are cleaning up after driver or app updates, Kudu’s System Cleaner can remove supported temporary caches for review, but it will not touch your display driver itself.

Frequently asked questions

Will disabling Intel Graphics Command Center break my display?
Usually no. The app is separate from the Intel graphics driver, so your display should keep working normally.
Is igcc.exe a virus?
Not if it is the real Intel file signed by Intel Corporation. If it runs from an unusual folder or lacks a valid Intel signature, investigate it.
Can I uninstall Intel Graphics Command Center and keep the driver?
Usually yes. Uninstalling the Command Center app removes the settings interface, not the core graphics driver.
