Pinokio

Pinokio uses an embedded Chromium runtime that keeps an on-disk HTTP cache for downloaded web assets, API responses, scripts, images, and other temporary content under Cache_Data so its interface and bundled pages load faster between launches. As that browser cache ages, it can hold stale or mismatched responses after app, script, or remote content updates, leading to pages that do not refresh correctly. Kudu removes Chromium HTTP cache entries older than one day while leaving Pinokio settings, sessions, databases, and user content untouched.

Why clean Pinokio?

  • Outdated cached HTML, JavaScript, or CSS can make Pinokio load an old interface after an update, showing missing buttons, broken layouts, or pages that do not match current instructions
  • Stale cached API responses can leave install or status pages stuck on old data, so users see incorrect progress, missing package lists, or controls that refuse to update until the cache expires
  • Corrupted Chromium cache entries can cause blank embedded pages, endless spinners, or partial page renders when Pinokio tries to reuse damaged responses from disk
  • Large accumulated HTTP cache files under Cache_Data waste space over time, especially after downloading many web assets for different workflows, and users notice AppData growing unexpectedly
  • Cached copies of remote scripts and manifests can conflict with newer server versions, causing launchers or setup pages to behave inconsistently until fresh files are fetched
  • After network interruptions, Pinokio may keep incomplete or invalid cached responses that make a page repeatedly fail to load even though the site or local service is now reachable
  • Removing only cache entries older than one day helps clear stale browser data without touching saved sessions, databases, account state, or the projects and content managed through Pinokio
