DaVinci Resolve
Editing sessions in DaVinci Resolve generate diagnostic log files and crash dump archives whenever the app records startup checks, GPU initialization, Fusion activity, playback errors, render failures, or unexpected exits. These logs and minidumps are useful for troubleshooting, but they can accumulate across failed launches, plugin crashes, and repeated GPU faults long after the problem is gone. Kudu removes Resolve's logs and CrashDumps only, while preserving project libraries, databases, timelines, media, cache clips, user settings, and login data.
Why clean DaVinci Resolve?
- Repeated startup failures and GPU initialization errors create new diagnostic logs on every launch attempt, so the folder grows quickly while you keep seeing the same splash-screen hang or immediate crash
- Fusion page crashes and OFX plugin faults leave behind crash dumps for each incident, consuming disk space even after the unstable composition or plugin has been fixed
- Long editing sessions with playback drops, decode warnings, and render retries can produce large rolling logs, which shows up as Resolve using more storage even though no new media was imported
- After a driver or codec issue is resolved, old logs and dumps no longer help day-to-day work but remain on disk, making support folders look unusually large when you inspect your profile
- Frequent forced quits during grading or delivery generate multiple minidumps from the same underlying problem, so one recurring error can leave dozens of duplicate crash records behind
- Systems with limited free space can feel the impact of accumulated crash artifacts during exports or cache generation, where you notice disk space warnings even though projects and media have not changed
