Adobe Creative Cloud

Adobe Creative Cloud apps build several shared caches behind the scenes, including Acrobat's Chromium Embedded Framework browser cache, media conform files and peak waveform data in Adobe Common Media Cache Files, and media index databases in Adobe Common Media Cache. These caches speed up Creative Cloud sign-in surfaces, PDF-related web views, and timeline playback in apps like Premiere Pro and After Effects, but they can become stale or oversized after app updates, codec changes, or interrupted background indexing. Kudu removes only these disposable cache files and cache databases so Adobe apps can rebuild them cleanly without touching projects, presets, accounts, or saved documents.

Why clean Adobe Creative Cloud?

  • Corrupted CEF web cache in Acrobat or Creative Cloud desktop can leave sign-in panels, Home tabs, or embedded Adobe web views blank, spinning, or stuck loading
  • Stale media conform and peak files cause Premiere Pro or After Effects to show mismatched waveforms, silent-looking clips, or delayed audio scrubbing until the cache is rebuilt
  • Old media cache entries after moving, relinking, or replacing footage can trigger repeated 'generating peak file' or conforming behavior and slow project opening
  • A bloated shared media cache consumes tens of gigabytes on fast SSD storage, which users notice as missing disk space even after old projects are deleted
  • Interrupted writes to Adobe media cache databases can lead to clips that import slowly, thumbnails that do not populate, or repeated background indexing on every launch
  • SQLite page fragmentation in Adobe's media cache databases wastes space and slows lookups; rebuilding the database is effectively a VACUUM-style rewrite that compacts pages without deleting source media or project rows
  • Outdated cache records from older app versions or codec components can produce choppy playback, incorrect audio peak displays, or unnecessary re-analysis until fresh cache files are generated
